TEXT REILLY AFTER APPLYING *****(513)229-2020
Job Description
This role focuses on operating CNC mills, lathes, and grinders in a job shop environment to manufacture precision parts that meet demanding customer specifications and production standards. You will perform machine setup, tooling changes, program edits, and quality checks to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and are produced safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC mills, lathes, and grinders to produce precision parts according to customer specifications and engineering requirements.
- Set up CNC machines, including selecting and installing tooling, fixtures, and workholding, and performing changeovers as needed.
- Edit and adjust CNC programs using G and M codes to optimize machining operations and ensure accurate part production.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining processes, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to inspect parts and verify conformance to tolerances of +/- 0.001 inches.
- Work in a job shop environment where individual parts may take days to complete, focusing on quality and complexity rather than high-volume production.
- Maintain tight dimensional tolerances and surface finishes through careful setup, tooling selection, and in-process inspection.
- Perform machine changeovers and adjustments to accommodate different materials, part designs, and customer requirements.
- Apply mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot machining issues, adjust parameters, and resolve problems that affect part quality or machine performance.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Collaborate with a flexible, growth-oriented team to share knowledge, support continuous improvement, and meet production goals.
- Participate in voluntary overtime opportunities on weekends when available to support customer demand and project timelines.
Essential Skills
- 6–8 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
- Proven ability to set up CNC machines, including tooling changes and fixture setup.
- Strong experience editing CNC programs using G and M codes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skilled in using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Demonstrated job shop machining experience, focusing on complex, low-volume parts rather than high-volume production.
- Ability to consistently hold tight tolerances of +/- 0.001 inches.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machining processes for mills and lathes.
- Comfort working with tolerances, GD&T concepts, and precision measurement practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with MasterCAM or SolidWorks for programming or toolpath generation.
- Experience operating both mill and lathe machines in a CNC environment.
- Familiarity with Haas machines and related controls.
- Experience with drill presses, press brakes, and other shop equipment.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and its application in machining.
- Understanding of machine setup, changeover processes, and job shop workflows.
- Comfort working on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, with shift differentials available for 2nd and 3rd shifts.
- Openness to working voluntary overtime on weekends when needed.
- Interest in contributing to a collaborative team in a growing environment and adapting to evolving processes.
