Job Title: Structural Engineer (Licensed SE)
Job Description
This role serves as the licensed Structural Engineer (SE) responsible for overseeing the structural execution of large-scale utility and infrastructure projects throughout Nevada. The position focuses on permitting, construction oversight, client coordination, and field execution rather than day-to-day structural design production. The Structural Engineer will lead structural efforts for ground-up utility developments, including transmission and energy infrastructure projects, and will act as the Structural Engineer of Record for applicable Nevada projects. The ideal candidate is hands-on, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes ownership of moving projects efficiently from permitting through completion while collaborating closely with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Structural Engineer of Record (SEOR) for assigned utility and infrastructure projects in Nevada.
- Oversee structural aspects of ground-up construction projects from initial planning through project completion.
- Coordinate and obtain structural permits and approvals through Clark County and other governing agencies.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings, progress meetings, and client coordination meetings to align expectations and deliverables.
- Conduct regular site visits and field observations throughout project execution to monitor progress and quality.
- Maintain approximately 20% field presence to verify construction activities and witness critical structural components, including foundations and major structural installations.
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, requests for information (RFIs), and construction documentation for structural compliance and constructability.
- Ensure all projects comply with Nevada building codes, structural engineering regulations, and applicable industry standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, utility providers, and government agencies to support coordinated project delivery.
- Monitor scheduling, project milestones, and construction activities to help ensure timely project completion.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve structural issues that arise during construction.
- Provide structural guidance and technical leadership to project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support business growth initiatives and expansion into additional infrastructure and utility sectors.
- Review and approve structural designs to ensure they meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
- Engage with clients in a professional, client-facing capacity, providing clear communication and maintaining strong working relationships.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Active Nevada Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Active Nevada Structural Engineer (SE) license or the ability to obtain Nevada reciprocity immediately.
- Minimum of 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Experience overseeing construction projects through permitting, active construction, and project closeout.
- Knowledge of Nevada building codes, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of structural systems including concrete, steel, foundations, retaining structures, and utility-related infrastructure.
- Experience conducting site observations and coordinating with contractors during construction.
- Demonstrated client-facing experience and the ability to oversee projects effectively.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven project leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project schedules simultaneously.
- Solid foundation in structural engineering principles and their application to large-scale infrastructure projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience within utility, energy, transmission, power generation, telecommunications, or infrastructure industries.
- Previous involvement with transmission line, substation, renewable energy, or utility construction projects.
- Experience working with Clark County permitting and plan review processes.
