This Project Engineer role supports an offsite manufacturing team in a fast-paced construction and data center environment based in Spokane. You will develop and manage project plans, schedules, and scopes of work while working closely with a diverse, established team where you can make an immediate impact. Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and scopes of work for offsite manufacturing and construction projects.
- Manage procurement and purchasing activities, ensuring effective supply chain coordination for materials and equipment.
- Track project financials, including budgeting, estimating, and cost tracking, to support budget adherence and financial oversight.
- Review and approve change orders, ensuring accurate documentation and alignment with project budgets and schedules.
- Coordinate logistics and vendor communication to ensure timely material delivery to project sites and offsite manufacturing facilities.
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, and schedule tracking using tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Interpret shop drawings and construction documents to support construction sequencing and field execution.
- Support project managers and field teams with technical documentation, reporting, and project coordination.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and MEP stakeholders, to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Work closely with mechanical subcontractors, particularly on HVAC systems and large data center projects, to ensure proper installation and sequencing.
- Apply a strong understanding of construction processes, including steel work, heavy equipment usage, and general construction sequencing.
- Identify and resolve coordination challenges by thinking in systems and dependencies and improving processes where possible.
- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear updates on project status, risks, and required actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of construction methods and offsite manufacturing practices through curiosity and innovation.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent field experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in construction or manufacturing environments.
- Two or more years of experience in project management, engineering, or construction.
- Proficiency with Navisworks for model review and coordination.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam for document review, markup, and collaboration.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for tracking costs, budgets, and project data.
- Experience using scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, including steel, heavy equipment operations, and general construction sequencing.
- Experience with purchasing coordination and material logistics in a construction or manufacturing context.
- Familiarity with financial oversight on projects, including budgeting, estimating, approving change orders, and cost tracking.
- Experience working with mechanical systems and MEP coordination, particularly HVAC systems, in commercial construction.
- Ability to interpret shop drawings, construction documents, and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with project managers, field teams, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with a major mechanical subcontractor, primarily focused on HVAC systems, is highly preferred.
- Supporting large data center projects is a plus.
- Demonstrated accountability and teachability, including taking ownership of work, communicating proactively, and learning quickly.
- Technically proficient with a solid foundation in construction principles, tools, and industry best practices.
