Job Title: MachinistJob DescriptionThis role is for an experienced CNC machinist responsible for full-cycle machining of tight-tolerance prototype parts. You will perform set ups, tool changes, program loading and edits, and ensure parts meet stringent quality requirements in a highly collaborative, aerospace-focused machine shop.
Responsibilities- Perform full-cycle CNC machining of prototype parts to tight tolerances, from set up through finished component.
- Set up CNC mills and lathes, including fixturing, work holding, and tooling selection for each job.
- Execute tool changes efficiently and safely to maintain productivity and part quality.
- Load CNC programs at the machine and make G&M code edits as needed to meet specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, including program faults and tooling problems, and adjust processes to resolve them.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining operations and critical dimensions.
- Use gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards.
- Operate and navigate Haas CNC mill controls, including 3-4 axis vertical and horizontal machining centers.
- Perform in-process inspections and make necessary adjustments to maintain tight prototype tolerances.
- Collaborate with team members to complete jobs on time, supporting any tasks needed in the shop regardless of tenure or title.
- Assist with assembly and fixture setup to support efficient machining operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance machining processes and tooling strategies.
Essential Skills- At least 5+ years of CNC mill machining experience.
- Proven ability to navigate and operate Haas CNC controls on mill platforms.
- Direct hands-on experience machining and setting up jobs on Haas milling machines.
- Demonstrated ability to upload programs at the machine and perform G&M code edits.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify program faults and adjust tooling and parameters to meet specifications.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
- Experience with 3-4 axis CNC milling and vertical and horizontal machining centers.
- Capability to work with tight prototype tolerances and maintain high quality standards.
- Comfort working with assembly, fixtures, manual mill, and lathe operations as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in aerospace machining environments.
- Mastercam programming and editing experience.
- Prototype machining knowledge and prior work with prototype components.
- Familiarity with internal tool tracking systems in a production or prototype shop.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented machine shop and support a wide range of tasks.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a newly remodeled, air-conditioned, and well-lit machining facility. The shop is organized and uses an internal tool tracking system to keep operations efficient. The environment is highly team-oriented, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and shared responsibility for meeting deadlines. The facility focuses on prototype aerospace machining and has recently moved into a larger building, creating opportunities to add more machinery and expand capabilities. You will work around Haas mills and related CNC equipment in a clean, modern, and safety-conscious setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Livonia, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.
