Job Title: Construction General Laborer – Office Furniture InstallationJob DescriptionThis role focuses on installing office furniture and storage systems inside commercial office buildings. You will assemble and set up desks, cabinets, and other fixtures, using a variety of hand and power tools. The position also involves unloading materials from trucks, moving them into the workspace, and supporting a wide range of construction-related tasks to ensure efficient and high-quality furniture installation. Candidates with more extensive construction experience may take on foreman-level responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Assemble and install office furniture, including desks, cabinets, shelving, and storage units inside office buildings.
- Use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, tape measures, and other basic tools to complete furniture assembly and installation tasks accurately.
- Operate cordless drills and other power tools safely to drill, fasten, and secure components as required.
- Unload furniture, materials, and equipment from trucks and transport them into the designated work areas within office facilities.
- Follow installation plans and basic blueprints to ensure furniture and fixtures are placed and assembled according to specifications.
- Perform general construction and labor tasks as needed, including light carpentry, framing support, and concrete-related work when applicable.
- Assist with drywall-related tasks, door installation, and other building components that relate to furniture and fixture placement.
- Support furniture delivery activities by helping load, unload, and stage products in preparation for installation.
- Maintain accurate inventory of tools, hardware, and materials used on each job site, and report shortages or issues promptly.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe throughout installation projects, following all site safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members and foreman to complete projects within client timelines and quality standards.
- For foreman-level roles, lead installation crews, coordinate daily tasks, and ensure construction and installation work meets project requirements.
Essential Skills- At least 1+ years of experience using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, tape measures, and similar tools.
- Minimum of 2+ years of tenure at a current or recent job, demonstrating reliability and consistent work history.
- Ability to safely use cordless drills and other basic power tools for drilling and fastening.
- Experience with general labor and construction-related tasks in commercial or residential settings.
- Capability to read and follow basic blueprints or installation plans for furniture and fixture placement.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move furniture and materials, and to work on your feet for 9–10 hour days.
- For foreman-level positions, at least 3+ years of construction experience with a strong, hands-on skillset.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Background in construction, including familiarity with framing, carpentry, concrete work, and drywall.
- Experience with furniture assembly, furniture installation, and furniture delivery in office or commercial environments.
- Knowledge of door installation and drilling techniques related to hardware and fixture mounting.
- Exposure to landscaping or general outdoor labor, demonstrating versatility in physical work settings.
- Ability to handle inventory tasks, including tracking tools, materials, and hardware on job sites.
- Comfort working from basic blueprints and layout drawings to ensure accurate installation.
- Willingness to travel periodically to other locations, such as regional offices, when local workload is light.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced construction and installation environment.
