Job Title: Mechanical Drafter / DesignerJob DescriptionThis Mechanical Drafter / Designer role supports a major filtration system project for a new facility. You will focus on layout drafting, creating detailed mechanical and structural drawings, and collaborating with designers and engineers to bring complex systems from concept to build-ready documentation. The position is ideal for a self-starter with strong Revit layout drafting skills who is excited to work on a high-impact project and grow professionally.
Responsibilities- Create detailed mechanical layout drawings for filtration systems to be installed in a new facility.
- Develop 3D models and mechanical designs using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and Revit.
- Produce fabrication drawings, structural drawings, and assembly blueprints that are accurate and build-ready.
- Interpret engineering concepts and translate them into clear mechanical drafting and design documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and other designers to refine layouts and ensure alignment with project specifications and standards.
- Update and revise drawings and models based on feedback, design changes, and field conditions.
- Ensure that all drafting work complies with relevant codes, standards, and internal design practices.
- Maintain organized drawing files and documentation to support project tracking and future reference.
- Occasionally visit the production or facility floor to review designs, gather information, and verify layout feasibility.
Essential Skills- Strong proficiency in layout drafting, specifically using Revit, with at least 3 years of experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical drafting for industrial or mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with 3D modeling and mechanical design.
- Ability to create and interpret fabrication drawings, structural drawings, and blueprints.
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and other mechanical drafting software.
- Solid understanding of mechanical structures and components used in industrial systems.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter and manage drafting tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drawings and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical design, drafting, or a related field.
- Open to candidates without a degree who demonstrate strong drafting and design skills.
- Willingness to consider entry-level candidates with a solid foundation in Revit and mechanical drafting.
- Interest in filtration systems, industrial facilities, or process-related mechanical design.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with engineers, designers, and floor personnel.
- Motivation to grow professionally and take on increasing responsibility within design and drafting work.
Work EnvironmentThe role is primarily based in a cubicle office setting, where you will work on CAD and Revit models and prepare detailed mechanical and structural drawings. You will also spend occasional time on the facility or production floor to review designs, gather measurements or information, and observe how your layouts translate into real-world installations. The environment supports collaboration with engineers and designers, offers exposure to a large, technically interesting project, and provides opportunities for growth and development in mechanical design and drafting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Brooklyn Park, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
