Job Description
The Architect will contribute to all phases of design for a variety of renovation projects, including lab, pharmaceutical, and corporate interior spaces. This role focuses on producing complete construction document sets using AutoCAD and Revit, participating in construction administration, and collaborating closely with clients, project teams, and consultants. The Architect will provide proactive, friendly client service while inspiring, mentoring, and leading architectural design staff to deliver high-quality work on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Assist in all design phases for a range of renovation projects, including updates to existing structures and corporate interior spaces.
- Produce comprehensive construction documents from start to finish in AutoCAD and Revit for lab, pharmaceutical, and corporate interior renovation projects.
- Participate in construction administration activities, including responding to contractor questions, reviewing submittals, and supporting field coordination.
- Coordinate effectively with clients, internal project teams, and external consultants to ensure alignment on project goals, design intent, and technical requirements.
- Provide exceptional, proactive, and friendly client service throughout the project lifecycle, anticipating needs and communicating clearly.
- Inspire, teach, and lead by example, serving as a mentor to architectural design staff and supporting their professional development.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and interior designers within project teams of 5–7 people to deliver cohesive design solutions.
- Ensure all assignments and project deliverables are completed within established schedules and deadlines.
- Apply expertise in shell and core and corporate interior design to develop thoughtful, buildable solutions that meet client objectives.
- Contribute to a collaborative studio environment by sharing ideas, participating in design discussions, and supporting a culture of excellence.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- 5–8+ years of professional architectural experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, with the ability to produce detailed construction documents.
- Proficiency in Revit, including experience creating and coordinating construction document sets.
- Strong background in architecture and construction documentation, particularly for renovation projects.
- Experience with shell and core and corporate interior projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients, project teams, and consultants.
- Ability to manage time effectively and complete assignments within schedule.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead architectural design staff.

- Experience with office and corporate interior projects is ideal.
- Experience working on commercial, pharmaceutical, and lab projects is highly valuable.
- Comfort working in multidisciplinary teams that include project managers, architects, and interior designers.

Work Environment
The role is based in a Chicago Loop office within an established design firm recognized by the local real estate community for architectural excellence. The firm is approximately 50 people and operates with a highly collaborative culture where interior design and architecture professionals work as equal partners on a growing design team. Project teams typically consist of 5–7 people, including one project manager, two to three architects, and two to three interior designers, focusing primarily on corporate office building projects across the United States and Canada. The studio features an open layout with cubicles, abundant natural light, and a business casual dress code. Standard working hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a one-hour swing in start or end time acceptable to accommodate individual schedules. The office includes a break room and supports a professional yet relaxed environment where collaboration, creativity, and high-quality design solutions are valued.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.85 - $52.88/hr.
