Job Title: Machine Operator $20-22/HR

Job Description

This role operates production machinery on the day shift to ensure consistent output of high-quality bottles. You will set up and monitor equipment, minimize scrap, support product changeovers, and perform basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to keep the production line running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned production machines on the day shift to produce bottles according to established standards.
• Minimize scrap on each machine by closely monitoring performance and making timely adjustments.
• Verify correct color concentration for each production run to ensure product quality and consistency.
• Prepare for and monitor product changeovers, including verifying line clearances and ensuring a clean, organized work area.
• Compare actual cycle times to standard cycle times and take action when performance deviates from expectations.
• Pack bottles as needed to support packers during breaks and lunches, maintaining continuous production flow.
• Verify correct operation of downstream equipment to ensure smooth and reliable production.
• Verify that good quality bottles are produced at restarts and address any defects or issues immediately.
• Perform daily and weekly preventive maintenance on assigned equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Perform equipment troubleshooting and minor repairs to resolve issues quickly and safely.
• Complete machine production line reports accurately and on time, documenting output, downtime, and any issues.
• Identify and react appropriately to various machine sounds and alarms to prevent equipment damage and product defects.
• Assist the material operator with responsibilities as needed to support overall production efficiency.
• Follow all workplace policies and procedures related to attendance, safety, and production performance.

Essential Skills

• Prior manufacturing or machine operating experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with production machinery.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and apply critical thinking to solve problems on the line.
• Attention to detail when monitoring machine performance, color concentration, and product quality.
• Capability to perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Comfort working with production reports and documenting machine performance.
• Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to machine sounds, alarms, and abnormal operating conditions.

Work Environment

This role follows a 12-hour shift schedule with two primary shift patterns: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for day shifts (A and B) and 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. for night shifts (C and D), with a structure that results in working approximately 15 days in a given period. The position is based in a manufacturing and production environment where you will work with automated bottle production equipment, downstream machinery, and packaging operations. Additional details on temperature and cleanliness will be provided after a facility tour so you can fully understand the working conditions. Attendance expectations are clearly defined, with limits on call-ins and specific consequences for not reporting to work, emphasizing reliability and consistent presence on the production floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bettendorf, IA.

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
