What You'll Do
As the Transmission Line Construction Manager, you'll act as the on-site "quarterback," coordinating contractors, field personnel, project stakeholders, and technical experts while maintaining ownership of project performance.
Lead Project Execution
- Serve as the primary liaison between field operations and project management.
- Drive field-level project success from mobilization through completion.
- Ensure all construction activities align with contract requirements, project specifications, and company standards.
- Lead project kickoff meetings, site orientations, and contractor onboarding activities.
- Establish clear expectations for contractors and internal teams regarding safety, quality, schedule, and performance.
Champion Safety Excellence
- Promote and maintain a culture of zero injuries.
- Review, understand, and enforce contractor safety plans and site-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct safety assessments, CILs, and field observations using systems such as Unifier.
- Partner with safety teams to improve contractor performance and address safety concerns proactively.
- Maintain a visible field presence and lead by example in all safety-related activities.
Ensure Quality and Compliance
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and QA/QC standards.
- Minimize rework through proactive quality inspections and oversight.
- Oversee site-specific requirements including permits, road use agreements, crossing agreements, SWPPP compliance, haul routes, and environmental commitments.
- Coordinate closely with environmental professionals to ensure regulatory compliance throughout project execution.
Manage Schedule and Progress
- Track project milestones using internal and contractor schedules, including C1 and P6 platforms.
- Monitor construction progress and approve CSU entries.
- Coordinate outage activities, crossing requirements, and construction sequencing.
- Partner with contractors to identify risks, resolve challenges, and maintain project momentum.
Drive Communication and Documentation
- Collect, verify, and maintain accurate project data independently.
- Prepare comprehensive weekly reports, QA/QC documentation, field records, and photographic evidence.
- Maintain detailed documentation to support project reporting and potential change order discussions.
- Provide project managers with timely updates, context, and recommendations for informed decision-making.
Collaborate Across Stakeholders
- Work closely with environmental teams, safety professionals, material expeditors, engineers, SMEs, land agents, and contractors.
- Coordinate material deliveries, inventory challenges, and vendor communication.
- Support successful landowner and stakeholder relationships while ensuring proper communication channels are maintained.
- Leverage technical experts across civil, structural, electrical, and construction disciplines to resolve field issues and optimize project outcomes.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction management for transmission line projects or similar large-scale utility infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and construction execution requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing and enforcing contractor safety programs.
- Experience leading project kickoffs, field orientations, and contractor coordination efforts.
