Purchasing Specialist (Permanent, Full Time)
Location: Seymour, CT- fully onsite
Salary: $65,000–$75,000 annually (based on experience)
Our client is a well-established manufacturing company in Seymour, CT seeking a motivated and experienced Purchasing Specialist to oversee the complete purchasing lifecycle. Responsibilities
- Manage the full purchasing lifecycle from sourcing through delivery
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with new and existing suppliers
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Monitor supplier performance, pricing, quality, and delivery schedules
- Forecast inventory requirements and maintain optimal stock levels
- Coordinate purchasing activities based on production schedules and demand
- Track lead times and proactively address supply chain issues
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors
- Process purchase orders and ensure timely order fulfillment
- Collaborate with production, inventory, and management to support operational needs
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and reports
Qualifications
- 2+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of inventory planning, forecasting, and vendor management
- Experience negotiating pricing and supplier contracts
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; ERP/MRP system experience is a plus
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Comfortable working in a small office where teamwork and flexibility are essential
