Step into a pivotal role supporting students across the Houston area as a dedicated school-based Occupational Therapist. This is a full-time, on-site contract position, focusing on providing essential OT services to a diverse student population ranging from ages 3 to 21. The district office functions as your home base, offering stability as you collaborate and commute to campuses in your assigned area.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Texas Occupational Therapist license (required)
- Experience in school-based or pediatric settings strongly preferred; highly qualified COTAs with several years’ experience in schools or pediatric care will be considered
- Must pass state-mandated fingerprinting/background check (fingerprints may already be in state system)
- Commitment to full-time work, 37.5 hours per week (no part-time schedules accepted)
- Strong documentation skills using SHARES/Onward and excel-based IEP logs
- Must not have previously worked for the district or have been terminated from any school district (affidavit required)
You Will:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 70 students, balancing direct services (typically 30–40 students) and consult-only cases
- Provide treatment on a rotating schedule; most students are seen every two to six weeks, rarely weekly
- Conduct evaluations and participate in ARD meetings
- Maintain accurate, thorough documentation and compliance with IEP requirements
- Function as the lead OT within your assigned schools, with no COTA support
