Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives by providing specialized adaptive physical education in a supportive academic environment. This contract opportunity focuses on delivering tailored physical education programming to students with developmental and adaptive needs across two middle schools. You’ll collaborate closely with faculty and support staff to ensure all students have equitable access to physical activity, fostering physical development and self-confidence.
Key Qualifications:
- Minnesota Developmental Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE) teaching license required
- Experience working with students requiring adaptive physical education services, ideally in a middle school setting
- Understanding of IEPs and required documentation for students served within special education
- Strong communication and collaborative problem-solving skills
- Ability to modify lesson plans and equipment to meet the diverse physical abilities of students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement adaptive PE curricula aligned with individual student needs and IEP goals
- Regularly assess and document student progress, adjusting activities as required for safety and effectiveness
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, therapists, and parents to support holistic student growth
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that motivates students of all abilities to participate and succeed
- Maintain accurate records and meet district/state reporting requirements
- Serve as a resource for staff regarding adaptive physical education strategies and student support
This assignment runs from early September through late November 2026, working full-time Monday through Friday, ensuring a regular weekday schedule.
