Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated, Junior-Level Project Engineer to support heavy civil, geotechnical, dam, mining, and infrastructure projects throughout the Western United States. This role works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents, serving as a key field resource responsible for supporting quality control, project documentation, testing, layouts, reporting, RFIs, and day-to-day field operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who wants hands-on construction experience, enjoys working outdoors, and is eager to learn from experienced construction professionals. The position is highly travel-focused and best suited for individuals who enjoy working on diverse projects across multiple states. Candidates should be based within the western region of the U.S. (Dakotas to Texas and west), with preference given to those located near Denver, CO or Salt Lake City, UT.

Project Locations
- Current and upcoming projects include:
- Washington: Major infrastructure project along the Columbia River (through September 2027)
- Wyoming: Dam and irrigation district projects
- New Mexico: Mining project
- Additional heavy civil and geotechnical projects throughout the Western U.S.
Travel Requirements
- Extensive travel required throughout the Western United States
- Personal vehicle required for travel to project sites
- Company provides mileage reimbursement for mobilization and demobilization
- Flights or mileage reimbursement provided for home rotations
Schedule
- Field-based role with significant outdoor work in active construction environments
- Home rotation every 3rd weekend
- 4 consecutive days off (Friday through Monday)
- Travel assistance provided

- Many projects shut down between Christmas and New Year's
Responsibilities:
- Partner directly with Project Managers and Superintendents to support project execution
- Perform quality control inspections and testing
- Assist with surveying, layouts, and field measurements
- Prepare daily reports and project documentation
- Support the preparation and tracking of RFIs
- Monitor project progress and communicate updates to project leadership
- Coordinate field activities with crews ranging from 3 to 18 personnel
- Track materials, equipment, procurement, and inventory
- Assist in maintaining project schedules and reporting requirements
- Promote and support jobsite safety initiatives
- Help ensure company quality standards and client expectations are consistently met
Qualifications:
Must Have
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or a related engineering discipline
- 0 to 3 years of construction-related experience
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Western U.S.
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for project travel
Nice to Have
- Internship experience in construction, heavy civil, geotechnical, mining, or infrastructure projects
- Previous field engineering or construction experience
- Experience working with quality control inspections and testing
- Familiarity with surveying, layouts, or construction documentation
- Exposure to RFIs, submittals, or project reporting
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
