Qualifications:

• Current and active teaching license as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Specialized experience supporting students with visual impairments in school settings
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, parents, and support staff
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction and consultative services to students who are blind or visually impaired
• Adapt curriculum and materials to meet individual student needs
• Conduct functional vision assessments and make recommendations for classroom accommodations
• Liaise with classroom teachers and related service professionals to support student success
• Provide orientation and mobility trainings as needed
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and progress reports
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute as a valued team member
• Stay current on best practices in visual impairment education and assistive technology advancements
