Job Description
This role supports flight operations by performing advanced maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities on F18 aircraft and related systems at the depot level. You will work across flight line, ramp, and flight operations environments to inspect, troubleshoot, and service airframe and powerplant systems, ensuring aircraft are safe, compliant, and ready for mission requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform removal, installation, and rigging of flight controls in accordance with Department of Defense, manufacturer, company, supplier, and other applicable directives.
- Conduct inspection, removal, installation, and functional checks of aircraft components as a CDI or CDQAR inspector, ensuring compliance with all technical and quality standards.
- Carry out high and low power turn-qualified operations as required in support of flight operations.
- Remove, install, and functionally check hydraulic components and systems to maintain proper aircraft operation.
- Perform depot-level disassembly and rebuilds of aircraft structures, systems, and components.
- Support and operate ground support equipment necessary for aircraft maintenance and flight line operations.
- Perform airframe and powerplant repairs, including potential fuel cell work, in support of aircraft modification and maintenance programs.
- Remove and replace panels, floorboards, insulation, and sealing compounds using a variety of mechanical fasteners.
- Remove, replace, and check out aircraft components and assemblies, ensuring proper configuration and system performance.
- Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, and test procedures to execute maintenance tasks accurately.
- Set up and use pneumatic tools such as screw guns and other powered equipment required for aircraft maintenance.
- Set up and use torque wrenches and other precision tools to ensure proper fastener installation and system integrity.
- Use common hand tools, including wrenches and safety wire pliers, to perform maintenance, repair, and installation tasks.
- Clearly document all maintenance and repair actions, including equipment status tags, logs, and parts requests, in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with coworkers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and resolve issues.
- Order parts, pan stock, tools, materials, and equipment as required to complete assigned duties efficiently.
- Comply with all health and safety rules and regulations, including tool control, contracts, facilities requirements, and other relevant policies.
- Perform assigned duties while wearing required safety equipment and following all applicable safety procedures.
- Work on all assigned shifts and adapt to varying weather, physical locations, and environmental conditions without encumbrance.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervision and management to support the company, program, and fellow employees.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated experience in aircraft maintenance, depot-level repair, and overhaul of airframe and powerplant systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, and test procedures.
- Proficiency in setting up and using pneumatic tools such as screw guns and similar equipment.
- Proficiency in setting up and using torque wrenches and other precision tools.
- Skilled in the use of common hand tools, including wrenches and safety wire pliers.
- Ability to remove and replace panels, floorboards, insulation, and sealing compounds using various mechanical fasteners.
- Familiarity with large aircraft and components, including airframe and powerplant systems.
- Ability to remove, replace, and check out aircraft components and assemblies accurately and safely.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers, supervision, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to clearly document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, and parts requests.
- Ability to perform duties while wearing required safety equipment and adhering to safety procedures.
