Job Title: Experienced Mill Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lathe OR Mill Machinist to join our machine shop in Brighton, MI. This role involves setting up and operating manual and/or CNC milling machines to produce precision components that meet customer and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong blueprint reading skills, understand tight tolerances, and take pride in producing high-quality machined parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Lathes and/or CNC milling machines (vertical and/or horizontal).
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job.
• Perform tool offsets, adjustments, and minor program edits (if CNC).
• Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and bore gauges.
• Maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet quality specifications.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams as needed.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience as a mill OR Lathe machinist.
• Proficiency in operation, set-ups, changeovers, and some programming of milling machines.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Experience with precision measuring tools and maintaining tight tolerances.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a machine shop setting with a fast-paced manufacturing atmosphere. Shifts available are 1st shift from 5 AM to 3:30 PM or 7 AM to 5:30 PM with overtime every other Saturday, and 2nd shift from Monday to Friday, 3:15 PM to 1:45 AM, with initial training on the first shift for one month. Safety policies and procedures are strictly followed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brighton, MI.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $34.00/hr.
