Job Title: NX Structural DesignerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on the design and development of large-scale steel structures for launch pads, towers, and related aerospace infrastructure using NX CAD. The NX Structural Designer collaborates closely with structural engineers and fabrication teams to produce detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and complete construction packages for complex structural systems. The position requires a strong understanding of heavy steel design and fabrication practices, as well as the ability to independently create accurate, production-ready drawings.
Responsibilities- Develop detailed 3D models of large-scale structural steel systems using NX CAD for launch pads, towers, platforms, pipe racks, and similar industrial infrastructure.
- Create comprehensive fabrication drawings, shop drawing packages, and assembly drawings that are accurate, clear, and ready for production.
- Generate precise 2D drawings from 3D models, ensuring alignment with structural engineering requirements and fabrication standards.
- Work closely with structural engineers to interpret and apply structural engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications to the design work.
- Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and compliant with structural steel detailing and fabrication practices.
- Prepare complete construction drawing packages for complex structural systems, supporting installation and field activities.
- Apply a strong understanding of weld symbols, bolted connections, and structural steel detailing to create production-ready documentation.
- Coordinate with fabricators and construction teams to address design questions, resolve issues, and support efficient fabrication and erection.
- Support field verification and construction activities by reviewing as-built conditions and updating drawings as required.
- Manage multiple design packages simultaneously, maintaining high attention to detail, consistent documentation, and adherence to project timelines.
- Ensure all design work aligns with relevant steel standards, fabrication processes, and project-specific requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design practices, standards, and workflows by leveraging experience with various CAD and modeling tools.
Essential Skills- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on NX CAD experience, with a focus on structural and technical design.
- Proven experience creating fabrication drawings and complete shop drawing packages for structural steel systems.
- Experience designing structural steel systems, heavy industrial structures, towers, platforms, pipe racks, or similar infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of structural steel detailing, including weld symbols, bolted connections, and fabrication standards.
- Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications accurately and efficiently.
- Experience generating accurate 2D drawings derived from detailed 3D models.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple design packages simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience supporting projects in aerospace, launch facilities, manufacturing plants, energy, oil and gas, industrial facilities, or large infrastructure environments.
- Exposure to launch pad, tower, gantry, or other mission-critical structural systems.
- Familiarity with AISC steel standards and structural fabrication processes.
- Experience coordinating directly with fabricators and construction teams to support design implementation.
- Knowledge of additional design and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Teamcenter, Revit, Tekla, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
- Field verification or construction support experience, including reviewing as-built conditions and updating documentation.
- Associate's Degree or Technical Degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
Work EnvironmentThe role is centered around a design and engineering environment focused on large-scale steel structures for aerospace and industrial applications. You will work closely with structural engineers, fabrication specialists, and construction teams, using NX CAD as a primary tool alongside other modeling software such as AutoCAD, Teamcenter, Revit, Tekla, and SolidWorks. The work involves both office-based design activities and potential support for field verification or construction, collaborating across disciplines to deliver mission-critical infrastructure. The environment emphasizes precision, adherence to steel standards and fabrication
