Job Title: Cherry Picker OperatorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on safely picking and moving parts within a large, clean warehouse environment using material handling equipment such as cherry pickers, reach trucks, and stand-up forklifts. You will accurately process customer orders with RF scanners, support general housekeeping and 5S tape layout activities ahead of facility events, and work at heights up to 27 feet while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and productivity.
Responsibilities- Pick parts accurately using an RF scanner and follow established warehouse procedures.
- Palletize orders using a stand-up forklift and ensure loads are secure and organized for shipping.
- Operate cherry pickers and other material handling equipment at heights up to 27 feet while adhering to all safety guidelines.
- Perform receiving, binning, picking, packing, and shipping of customer orders in a safe, productive, and error-free manner.
- Operate various equipment at high altitudes, including order pickers, reach trucks, stand-up dock trucks, and sit-down forklifts.
- Use an electric stock chaser or pack mule after receiving proper training to move materials efficiently throughout the warehouse.
- Support general housekeeping tasks, including laying down 5S tape and preparing the facility for events and daily operations.
- Handle inventory and material movement, ensuring items are stored, labeled, and tracked correctly.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly as part of daily tasks, while climbing, bending, kneeling, stooping, walking, and standing for extended periods.
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately to complete tasks on time and with minimal errors.
- Work overtime in the mornings when required, with advance notice provided the night before.
- Demonstrate reliability by consistently arriving on time and completing assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with team members, contributing to a positive team environment and effective communication.
- Maintain integrity and trust in all aspects of the role, including safe equipment operation and accurate order processing.
- Adhere to all safety requirements, including wearing safety shoes and approved eye protection at all times in the warehouse.
Essential Skills- Comfort working at heights up to 27 feet while operating cherry pickers and other elevated equipment.
- Experience operating stand-up forklifts and other material handling equipment in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to use RF scanners for picking and inventory-related tasks.
- Capability to lift up to 75 pounds and regularly lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily responsibilities.
- Ability to stand and walk for 67–100% of the workday and perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, kneeling, stooping, and extended standing.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs safely as needed.
- Strong understanding of and adherence to safety protocols, including the use of safety shoes and approved eye protection.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliability and strong time- or task-sensitive focus to meet operational deadlines.
- Integrity and trustworthiness in handling equipment, inventory, and customer orders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with reach forklifts and reach trucks is a plus.
- Rolling stock certification for equipment such as reach trucks, stock pickers, dock trucks, and stand-up forklifts is highly beneficial.
- Experience using material handling equipment in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Familiarity with the Manhattan Warehouse Management System is an advantage.
- Team-building skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed, including early morning hours with prior notice.
- Flexibility to work varying hours within the day shift schedule.
- General labor experience, including shipping, inventory handling, and material handling tasks.
