Step into an impactful role supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher within a welcoming educational environment. This full-time contract position focuses on delivering specialized instruction and support to learners in a resource room setting for the upcoming academic year, beginning September 8, 2026. Early onboarding prior to August 27 offers the chance to participate in valuable professional development.
In this position, you'll provide tailored assistance to a high school caseload of approximately 14–20 students, working with either 9th graders or students in grades 10–12. You'll collaborate with a supportive team to address academic needs, foster social-emotional growth, and implement behavior interventions that set students on a path to success.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably at the high school level
- Michigan Special Education Certification (preferred)
- Passion for building positive relationships with students and empowering learners of diverse abilities
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to implement individualized education plans, behavior interventions, and targeted academic supports
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction in the resource room
- Support students’ academic progress and social-emotional development
- Partner with teachers, families, and other professionals to ensure effective programming
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Provide behavior interventions and proactively manage classroom environments
- Maintain accurate records and participate in ongoing professional growth activities
