Key Qualifications:

• Valid South Carolina teaching certificate with a Visual Impairment (VI) Endorsement
• Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in school settings is desirable
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of collaborating with students, families, and educational teams
• Ability and willingness to travel to various schools within the district as an itinerant educator
• Flexible and adaptive approach to meet diverse student needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, fostering academic growth and independence
• Adapt general education curriculum and materials for accessibility using appropriate techniques and technology
• Conduct functional vision assessments and collaborate on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Offer guidance and training to classroom teachers and staff on effective practices and accommodations
• Serve as a resource for families, ensuring open communication and advocacy for student success
• Maintain accurate documentation on student progress and services delivered
• Travel between assigned schools to deliver both direct and consultative services
