Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Developmental Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE) Teacher within a supportive middle school environment. This essential role delivers adaptive PE services across two middle schools, empowering students to thrive physically and socially in inclusive settings.
Beginning in early September 2026 and running through late November, you’ll serve a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours weekly, Monday through Friday. The assignment focuses on providing direct instruction, individualized programming, and collaboration with educational teams for students requiring adapted physical education.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Minnesota DAPE teaching license (required)
- Experience or strong interest in Adaptive Physical Education at the middle school level
- Ability to craft and deliver appropriate lesson modifications for diverse student needs
- Strong communication skills for working with students, families, and school staff
- Proven organizational skills to manage caseloads, IEP documentation, and progress monitoring
Responsibilities
- Design and implement tailored PE lessons for students with varying developmental abilities
- Adapt curriculum and equipment to meet the needs of each learner
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and therapists to support student success
- Monitor and document student progress toward individual goals in compliance with IEPs
- Actively participate in team meetings, conferences, and ongoing professional learning
