This role offers an opportunity for a hands-on truck mechanic to work in a dynamic, fast-paced fabrication environment. You will modify truck chassis, bodies, and interiors while performing mechanical inspections and repairs. The position suits someone who enjoys working with tools, solving complex mechanical and electronic issues, and contributing to high-quality custom truck builds.
Responsibilities
- Modify truck chassis, body, and interior components to meet project and customer specifications.
- Perform drilling and bolt-style modifications on trucks using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer equipment when applicable.
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and modifications with minimal supervision.
- Perform diesel maintenance and repair tasks as needed, including work on engines, hydraulics, and related systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components on trucks.
- Provide technical assistance to helpers and support staff as needed.
- Orient and help train new employees on procedures, tools, and safety practices when requested.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor to support operations.
- Report to the Operations Manager regarding work progress, issues, and any additional assigned duties.
- Work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) when business needs require it.
- Maintain and use personal tools and toolbox safely and efficiently while keeping the work area organized.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on mechanical experience working on trucks or similar heavy equipment.
- Ability to modify truck chassis, bodies, and interiors using drilling and bolt-style methods.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in diesel maintenance and repair.
- Experience working with diesel engines, including troubleshooting and basic repairs.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and their components.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems on trucks.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic computer tools to identify mechanical and electronic issues.
- Capability to complete complex mechanical inspections and modifications with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, fabrication-focused environment.
- Ownership of a personal toolbox suitable for truck mechanical work.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as business needs dictate.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Fabrication experience is a plus.
- Hydraulic system experience is a plus.
- Experience providing technical assistance and mentoring helpers or new employees.
- Comfort working with both mechanical and electronic diagnostic tools.
- Ability to follow instructions from managers and supervisors and adapt to changing priorities.

Work Environment
This position is based in a fabrication environment that is dynamic, fast-paced, and hands-on. The facility is dirty, dusty, and non-climate controlled, so you should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions. You will work with mechanical, diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems using your own toolbox and tools, alongside diagnostic computers and standard shop equipment. Overtime may be required based on business needs, and you will collaborate closely with supervisors, helpers, and other technicians on the shop floor.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
