Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An interim leadership opportunity is available for a licensed West Virginia pharmacist to serve as Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge at a hospital specializing in behavioral health. This contract role offers a chance to guide pharmacy operations during a transitional period with onsite support from the current Director of Pharmacy.
Location:
Wayne, WV (River Park Hospital — 1230 6th Ave, Huntington, WV 25701)
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- On-call coverage after shifts and on weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee pharmacy staffing and manage administrative duties as Pharmacist-in-Charge
- Support and maintain pharmacy services in a 165-licensed-bed behavioral health facility with an average daily census of 130 patients
- Lead a team consisting of 1 full-time pharmacist, 4 per diem pharmacists, and approximately 2.6 full-time equivalent technicians
- Utilize hospital systems, including HCS for order entry and Omnicell automation (training provided)
- Ensure efficient medication delivery, inventory control, and compliance with regulatory standards
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid West Virginia pharmacist licensure required
- Previous experience in hospital pharmacy operations and use of Omnicell technology preferred
- Strong leadership and administrative skills in a healthcare setting
- Ability to manage on-call responsibilities and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
This contract assignment begins on August 31, 2026, and will continue until a permanent Director of Pharmacy is hired. Business casual attire is expected on site. The position includes comprehensive onsite training by the retiring pharmacy leader to ensure a smooth transition.
