This role prepares equipment and parts for frequent color changes, monitors coating quality, and performs basic chemical testing to maintain process standards. The technician helps track coating material inventory, supports department quality and efficiency goals, and contributes to a safe, clean, and organized work area while collaborating closely with team members and leadership.
Responsibilities- Apply powder coating to parts in a high-mix, fast-paced production environment while meeting quality and throughput expectations.
- Prepare equipment and parts for color changes between batches, including cleaning, setup, and adjustment of coating tools and sprayers.
- Monitor coating quality by checking appearance, adhesion, and cure, and make necessary adjustments to maintain consistent results.
- Perform basic chemical testing to ensure powder and process parameters remain within specified standards.
- Track and maintain inventory of coating materials, including powders and related supplies, and report usage or shortages as needed.
- Use hand tools and industrial equipment safely and effectively during preparation, coating, and finishing processes.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and leadership to coordinate work, report issues, and support production goals.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by following housekeeping, safety, and 5S practices.
- Support departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Assist with other duties as needed to support the overall manufacturing and production operations.
Essential Skills- At least 1 year of powder coating or industrial painting experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with powder coating processes, including setup, application, and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production setting with high-mix, fast-paced workflows.
- Familiarity with coating quality standards and processes, including visual inspection, adhesion, and cure verification.
- Ability to operate sprayers, hand tools, and industrial equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent coating quality and adherence to specifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership in a production environment.
- Capability to perform basic chemical testing to maintain process standards.
- Demonstrated ability to track and maintain inventory of coating materials.
- Reliability in following safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Previous experience specifically in powder coating operations.
- Experience performing paint prep work, including cleaning, masking, and surface preparation.

Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a manufacturing and production facility with a Monday through Friday schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the expectation of working overtime, including weekends, when needed. The position requires standing, bending, stooping, gripping, and reaching for 8 or more hours per shift. You must be able to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance and up to 70 pounds with assistance, including lifting from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, and above shoulder height. The work takes place in non-climate-controlled and non-dust-controlled areas, so conditions may be warm, cool, or dusty depending on the season and production activity.
