The Clinical Resource Manager leads value analysis initiatives across the health system to optimize clinical product selection, utilization, quality, and cost management. This role serves as a key liaison between supply chain, clinical leadership, physicians, finance, vendors, and executive stakeholders, ensuring that product decisions support high-quality, safe, and cost-effective patient care. The position offers significant visibility and the opportunity to drive enterprise-wide initiatives in product utilization, standardization, and clinical outcomes within a pediatric-focused healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead value analysis initiatives to optimize clinical product selection, utilization, quality, and cost management across the health system.
- Serve as the primary liaison between supply chain, clinical leadership, physicians, finance, vendors, and executive stakeholders to support coordinated decision-making.
- Plan, organize, and lead product evaluations to assess clinical effectiveness, safety, and financial impact.
- Analyze financial and clinical outcomes related to product selection and utilization, and present findings to leadership and value analysis committees.
- Facilitate value analysis committees, ensuring evidence-based discussions, consensus-building, and timely decisions on product adoption or standardization.
- Coordinate and oversee product trials, including planning, implementation, data collection, and evaluation of results.
- Drive standardization initiatives to reduce clinical practice variation and promote consistent, evidence-based use of supplies and products.
- Develop and implement cost-saving programs that maintain or enhance patient care quality and safety.
- Educate clinical and operational staff on product changes, standardization decisions, and best practices for utilization management.
- Partner with operational and clinical leaders to identify opportunities for supply expense management and product optimization.
- Promote evidence-based decision-making in product selection and utilization, incorporating clinical data, financial analysis, and stakeholder feedback.
- Collaborate with supply chain professionals to align product decisions with contracts, group purchasing organization (GPO) strategies, and vendor relationships.
- Leverage advanced analytical skills to interpret utilization data, identify trends, and recommend actionable improvements.
- Prepare and deliver clear, compelling presentations to executive leadership, physicians, nursing leaders, finance teams, and supply chain stakeholders.
- Support consensus supply utilization efforts across critical care, post-operative, and other clinical areas to improve efficiency and outcomes.
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of healthcare supply chain processes, including procurement, inventory management, and utilization management.
- In-depth knowledge of contracts, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), and vendor relationship management within a healthcare environment.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience guiding multidisciplinary teams and influencing stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Demonstrated facilitation skills to lead committees, drive consensus, and manage complex discussions involving clinical and financial considerations.
- Robust project management skills, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting on value analysis and standardization initiatives.
- Advanced analytical skills to interpret clinical and financial data, assess product performance, and support evidence-based recommendations.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to clinical and non-clinical audiences.
- Expert understanding of value analysis methodologies and clinical practice variation management.
- Clinical RN experience, particularly in critical care and post-operative settings, to effectively evaluate clinical products and practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing leaders, finance teams, supply chain professionals, and executive leadership.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred, ideally in healthcare administration, business, nursing, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CVAHP (Certified Value Analysis Healthcare Professional), CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room), or CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) strongly preferred.
- Pediatric healthcare experience preferred, with familiarity in pediatric clinical practice and product requirements.
