About the Position
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Education Teacher with experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction, implement individualized learning strategies, and collaborate with educational teams to support students’ academic achievement, communication, behavior, and independence.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs and goals
- Provide specialized instruction and support for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related learning needs
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies, including structured teaching and positive behavioral supports
- Adapt curriculum, classroom materials, and assessments to meet individual learning needs
- Implement behavior intervention strategies and support student social-emotional development
- Monitor and document student academic, behavioral, and developmental progress
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Promote communication, independence, and functional skills development
- Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution
- Valid Georgia teaching certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC)
- Appropriate Special Education certification/endorsement applicable to the assigned student population and disability area
- Experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, positive behavioral supports, and evidence-based autism interventions preferred
- Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), IEP development, and special education compliance requirements
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support students with varying academic, behavioral, communication, and developmental needs
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Successful completion of required background screening and district onboarding requirements
