Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical, Day ShiftJob DescriptionA hospital in Duncan, Oklahoma is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join its Medical-Surgical team on the day shift. In this role, you provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care in a fast-paced acute care environment, collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, and support excellent patient outcomes through thorough assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans for medical-surgical patients in an acute care setting.
- Provide direct patient care that aligns with established standards, protocols, and best practices.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy, safety, and adherence to hospital policies.
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and promptly communicate significant findings to providers and the healthcare team.
- Perform ongoing case management and utilization review activities to support appropriate, efficient, and effective patient care.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records and documentation for all aspects of patient care.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions to support safe transitions of care.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
- Advocate for patient needs and preferences while promoting patient safety and quality outcomes.
- Follow all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient privacy, infection control, and safety.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, and communication to ensure continuity of care.
- Support a positive, team-oriented work environment and contribute to continuous improvement in clinical practice.
Essential Skills- Active and unrestricted Oklahoma Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated experience in patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation in an acute care setting.
- Proficiency in administering medications and treatments safely and accurately.
- Ability to monitor patient conditions and promptly report changes to providers.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Solid critical thinking and clinical judgment skills to prioritize care and respond to changing patient needs.
- Competence in maintaining accurate medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of case management and utilization management principles.
- Ability to educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Previous Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Experience with utilization review and care coordination in an acute care environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
