In this rewarding role, you will work alongside teachers and school staff to provide meaningful academic, social, and emotional support in a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
As a classroom support professional, you will help create opportunities for student success by assisting with instruction, encouraging independence, and supporting students with a variety of learning needs, including those receiving Special Education services and English Language Learner (ELL) support.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with teachers to support classroom instruction, lesson activities, and student learning.
• Provide individualized and small-group academic assistance to help students reach their goals.
• Support students with diverse educational needs, including Special Education and ELL programs.
• Reinforce classroom expectations and help maintain a positive, organized, and respectful learning environment.
• Observe and communicate student progress, behaviors, and needs with classroom teachers.
• Assist with classroom tasks such as preparing materials, organizing resources, copying, and grading assignments.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, classroom transitions, field trips, and school activities.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or completion of at least 48 college units preferred.
• Previous experience working with children, students, or in an educational environment preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, compassionate, and committed to supporting student growth.
• Ability to follow instructions, collaborate effectively, and maintain professionalism in a school setting.
Preferred or Required Certifications
Requirements may vary by district and position.
• Paraprofessional certification or successful completion of a state-approved paraprofessional assessment.
• CPR and First Aid certification may be required upon hire.
