The Heavy Equipment Technician plays a vital role in maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Working primarily within a small team of 1-3 technicians and operating with periodic oversight, this role demands technical expertise in diagnostics, hydraulic systems, engine overhaul, and preventive maintenance. Occasional travel is required for training to stay current with evolving technologies and repair techniques.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy construction equipment
- Diagnose equipment issues using technical and electronic tools
- Repair and maintain hydraulic systems and diesel engines
- Conduct engine overhauls and parts replacements as needed
- Execute preventive maintenance to reduce downtime
- Document technical procedures and maintenance records accurately
- Collaborate effectively within a small technician team
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and diesel engine repair
