Un Mundo de Amigos Preschool serves over 100 children annually and provides high quality early childhood education to children living in traditionally underserved communities. Following the guidelines of the Reggio Emilia approach, we provide a safe learning environment for all children to reach their potential. Position Summary
We are hiring reliable and passionate educators to join our substitute teacher pool and support our classrooms as needed. Working closely with Lead Teacher, this position steps in to maintain a safe, engaging and consistent environment for children whenever we have an absence in the classroom. The Substitute Teacher helps carry forward the day's planned curriculum in a way that aligns with Un Mundo de Amigos’ philosophy, accreditation standards and state guidelines.

Compensation & Benefits
The compensation for this position is $19.00 - $23.00. This position is also eligible for paid sick leave.

Essential Position Responsibilities

• Step into assigned classrooms on short notice and quickly adapt to the room's routines, schedule and children.
• Maintain a nurturing, inclusive and safe classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of all children.
• Carry out the day's planned activities and curriculum as prepared by the Lead Teacher.
• Collaborate with classroom staff to maintain a respectful and engaging classroom culture.
• Supervise children closely during transitions, meals, rest time and outdoor play.
• Communicate relevant observations or incidents to the Lead Teacher or Site Director at the end of each shift.
• Follow school-wide initiatives, policies and procedures.
• Help maintain the classroom environment, including organizing materials and following daily routines and schedules.
• Provide coverage for rest breaks and meal periods as needed.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units.
• A current Associate Teacher Permit or higher, or eligibility for one.
• At least 1 year of experience working with young children.
• Ability to work collaboratively and respond to the individual needs of children.
• Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Associates degree or higher preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
