Genius Lounge Waikiki is hiring a Line Cook to join our kitchen team!

We are a Japanese-owned restaurant and sake bar located in the heart of Waikiki, serving creative Hawaiian-Japanese fusion cuisine created by an experienced Japanese chef.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking, and a good team player. Previous kitchen experience is preferred, but we're also open to someone who has less experience and is motivated to learn.

Pay

$20–$25 per hour, based on experience and skills.

The first 10 working days are considered a training/probationary period at $17 per hour.

If you demonstrate strong skills, reliability, and a good work ethic, your pay may be increased before the 10-day probationary period is completed.

We recognize good work and are happy to increase pay quickly for the right person.

Flexible Schedule

Only 2 days per week minimum!

Typical shifts:

Sunday–Saturday: 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM – approximately 10:00 PM–11:00 PM

Shift end time depends on business volume. On busy weekends, shifts may occasionally run until around 12:00 AM.

We understand that everyone has different schedules.

Can't start at 4:00 PM? Need to finish before 10:00 PM? Let us know. We are happy to discuss your availability and see if we can make it work.

About Our Kitchen

Our kitchen is small, and teamwork is very important to us.

Everyone works together and shares the responsibilities needed to keep the kitchen running smoothly. There is no “that's not my job” attitude on our team.

Line Cook responsibilities include:

• Line cooking and plating
• Food preparation
• Ingredient prep
• Cleaning and sanitation
• Kitchen opening/closing duties
• Dishwashing
• Helping other kitchen team members as needed

Dishwashing and cleaning are part of every Line Cook's responsibilities. Everyone helps each other, especially during busy service.

If you're the kind of person who sees something that needs to be done and jumps in to help, you'll fit in well with our team.

What We're Looking For

• Kitchen or restaurant experience preferred
• Reliable and punctual
• Positive attitude
• Strong work ethic
• Team-oriented
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Willing to help with all kitchen duties, including dishwashing
• Available at least 2 days per week
• Weekend availability is a plus
