- Location: New Britain, CT
- Pay: Compensation ranges from $75,000 to $78,500 contingent upon experience, education, and qualifications.
As the Proposal Writer II, you'll own the full proposal lifecycle—from analyzing solicitations and building compliance matrices to coordinating reviews and submitting polished final proposals.
- Lead the development and submission of competitive proposals for federal, state, and local government contracting opportunities.
- Analyze solicitations and procurement documents to ensure compliance and develop winning proposal strategies.
- Collaborate with Business Development, Capture, Operations, Pricing, Contracts, and Subject Matter Experts to create compelling customer-focused solutions.
- Write and edit persuasive proposal content, including executive summaries, technical approaches, management plans, and past performance narratives.
- Manage proposal schedules, deliverables, review cycles, and submissions to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Conduct compliance reviews and oversee proposal production to ensure accuracy, responsiveness, and adherence to solicitation requirements.
- Maintain proposal resources, templates, content libraries, and past performance databases while identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Mentor junior proposal team members and foster strong partnerships with internal partners, subcontractors, and cross departmental partners.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Project Management, or related field
- Minimum of 4 years of proposal development experience, preferably in government contracting (federal, state, or DoD).
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience managing cross-functional proposal teams (writers, SMEs, graphic designers, etc.).
- Strong proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint.
- Valid driver’s license.
Bonus If You Have These Skills:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- APMP certification.
- Shipley Proposal, Capture, or Business Development training.
- Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, GSA Schedules, IDIQs, and federal procurement processes..
- Strong project management expertise.
- Proposal graphic design and visual storytelling skills.
- Exceptional editing and quality assurance abilities.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent proposals.
- A talent for transforming technical information into compelling customer-focused solutions..
