MBG is searching for a Compliance Specialist.
Primary areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Compliance Administration: Perform all compliance functions for an affordable housing community participating in Project Based Section 8 and Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) programs. Process move-in certifications, annual and interim recertifications, maintain resident files, obtain third-party verifications, prepare HUD and LIHTC documentation, monitor compliance deadlines, ensure regulatory compliance, and assist with agency audits and file reviews.
- Leasing and Occupancy: Meet with prospective residents, determine program eligibility, process applications, coordinate move-ins, prepare lease documentation, maintain waiting lists, and ensure all occupancy requirements are met in accordance with Fair Housing and affordable housing regulations.
- Resident Relations: Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly and professionally to resident inquiries and concerns, coordinating maintenance requests, assisting with resident retention, and fostering a positive living environment.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate resident files and records, enter information into Yardi, prepare reports, distribute notices, assist with rent collection, and other office functions, and support the Property Manager with daily operations to ensure the efficient management of the community.
- Property Operations: Conduct regular inspections of common areas and vacant units, communicate apartment readiness with maintenance staff, assist with occupancy goals, and help ensure the property remains clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors.
Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in affordable housing, property management, leasing, compliance, or customer service.
- Experience with Project Based Section 8 and Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) programs preferred.
- Experience processing move-in certifications, annual recertifications, and interim recertifications preferred.
- Experience with Yardi or equivalent property management software preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to calculate household income and determine program eligibility in accordance with affordable housing regulations.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong customer service skills and commitment to providing a positive resident experience.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive resident information.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends as business needs require.
