Position Title: Buyer – Supplier Development
Location: London, OH
Key Responsibilities:
· Research, evaluate, and source automotive components for new model development and trial events.
· Identify, assess, and select suppliers based on quality, cost competitiveness, delivery performance, and technical capability.
· Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support both new model launches and mass production.
· Coordinate with suppliers on engineering design changes throughout trial builds and production implementation.
· Prepare and issue supplier documentation, including contracts, agreements, forecasts, Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Maker Layout Letters, and other purchasing documents.
· Develop, obtain approval for, and execute purchasing strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers.
· Achieve new model and mass production cost targets through strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, and commercial negotiations.
· Manage supplier documentation and records using the Q-Pulse quality management system.
· Communicate with suppliers regarding RFQs, event orders, pricing, commercial terms, and delivery schedules.
· Create and issue expenses Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company procurement procedures.
· Collaborate with suppliers throughout the new model development process to ensure products meet quality, cost, and timing requirements.
· Monitor supplier performance and support continuous improvement initiatives to ensure consistent quality and on-time delivery.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business or related field or equivalent experience
· Minimum of one year of experience in Purchasing, Sales, Quality Control, or Engineering.
· Project management experience
· Time management skills
· Demonstrated knowledge of Supply chain management
· Demonstrated ability to negotiate based on logic
· Demonstrated ability to manage cost
· Demonstrated ability to manage customer/supplier relationships
· Demonstrated ability to develop and present a clear and concise proposal
· Basic math skills
· Computer skills (Microsoft Office applications), email, etc.
· Demonstrated strong cost analysis skills
