Position Summary
MXD Services LLC is seeking an experienced Estimator to serve as the face of the company on every new loss. This role owns the client relationship from first contact through scope development — conducting on-site estimates, building accurate Xactimate estimates and proposals, and following up to convert opportunities into secured jobs. Because the Estimator develops the deepest first-hand knowledge of each loss, they are also responsible for briefing and getting crews started correctly on the jobs they scoped, ensuring the work performed matches the estimate and the client's expectations. This is a highly visible, client-facing role that directly drives revenue and reputation for both MXD Services territories.
Key Responsibilities
• Site Visits & Client Meetings — Respond to new loss calls and conduct on-site inspections for water, fire, mold, and related property damage, meeting directly with homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients.
• Scoping — Assess damage, determine scope of work, and document findings (photos, moisture readings, sketches) to a standard sufficient to support the estimate and any carrier review.
• Estimate & Proposal Creation — Build accurate, defensible Xactimate estimates for mitigation and reconstruction work, and prepare client-facing proposals for self-pay and insurance-involved jobs.
• Follow-Up & Job Conversion — Track outstanding estimates and proposals, proactively follow up with clients and adjusters to answer questions, resolve objections, and move jobs toward signed work authorizations.
• Client Feedback — Request reviews and feedback from clients at appropriate milestones, and flag any dissatisfaction early so it can be addressed before it escalates.
• Crew Kickoff — Since the Estimator holds the most complete knowledge of the job scope, personally brief the assigned crew chief/technicians before work begins — covering scope, access, safety concerns, equipment needs, and any client-specific instructions — and be available to answer scope questions once work is underway.
• Internal Coordination — Coordinate with Production, Construction, and the Job File Coordinator to ensure estimates translate cleanly into work orders, and communicate any scope changes discovered in the field.
• Carrier Communication — Communicate professionally with insurance adjusters (e.g., Travelers, Allstate, State Farm) to support timely claim review and approval of scope and pricing.
• Pipeline Management — Maintain an organized pipeline of active estimates, pending proposals, and follow-up tasks, and report status regularly to the General Manager.
Required Qualifications
• Mitigation Experience — Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on water/fire mitigation experience, including a working understanding of IICRC S500/S520 standards and Cat/Class classification.
• Xactimate Proficiency — Proficiency building estimates in Xactimate; comfortable with pricing lists, line-item detail, and sketch/scope documentation.
• Client-Facing Skills — Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly, explain scope and pricing clearly to non-technical clients, and close on proposals.
• Leadership Presence — Comfortable directing crew chiefs and technicians on scope and expectations at job start.
• Organization — Able to prioritize a multi-job pipeline, follow up consistently, and keep documentation current.
• Mobility — Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel between both MXD Services territories daily.
