Job Summary
The Ambulette Driver is responsible for safely transporting clients to and from medical appointments, hospitals, nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, and personal destinations. This role requires excellent driving skills, patience, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help others.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport clients to scheduled destinations.
- Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and securing wheelchairs or mobility devices.
- Ensure all safety equipment (seatbelts, restraints, lifts, ramps) are properly used and maintained.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage, and service records.
- Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and state/federal transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and facility staff regarding schedules and updates.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues.
- Provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to every client.
- Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum age: 21 years old
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no major violations)
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with wheelchair or stretcher transport (preferred but not required — training provided)
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs and assist passengers safely
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in Non-Emergency Medical Transportation, home health care, or patient services
- Understanding of ADA and passenger assistance techniques
- Familiarity with scheduling or dispatch software
