Position Summary
The FrameCAD Designer & BIM Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining FrameCAD production models, shop drawings, and BIM deliverables for cold-formed steel framing and prefabricated wall panel systems. This role serves as a key link between design, project management, manufacturing, and field operations to ensure projects are accurately modeled, coordinated, fabricated, and installed.
Working under the direction of the Design Team Lead, the FrameCAD Designer & BIM Coordinator utilizes Revit, AutoCAD, and FrameCAD software to create production-ready models and drawings, support project execution, improve manufacturing efficiency, and maintain quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design & Modeling
- Develop and maintain FrameCAD models and production-ready shop drawings.
- Create, modify, and coordinate BIM models using Revit and other design software.
- Interpret architectural, structural, and project-specific contract documents.
- Produce detailed panel, framing, and assembly drawings for manufacturing.
- Ensure design accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Maintain drawing revisions and document control throughout each project.
BIM Coordination
- Coordinate BIM models with architectural, structural, MEP, and specialty trade information.
- Participate in design reviews and clash detection activities as required.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of BIM standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Assist in developing and improving BIM processes, templates, and production procedures.
Production Support
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure models and drawings support efficient production.
- Review production information to verify accuracy before fabrication.
- Coordinate design revisions and engineering changes with production teams.
- Assist with production planning and scheduling efforts when required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, safety, quality, and efficiency.
Project Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Manufacturing Personnel, and Field Staff.
- Participate in production, design, and project coordination meetings.
- Communicate design changes and technical information to internal teams.
- Assist in resolving design-related issues throughout fabrication and installation.
- Support Project Managers in gathering and reviewing project information, engineering responses, and post-bid documentation.
Field Verification
- Conduct site visits and field measurements as required.
- Verify dimensions and site conditions before fabrication when necessary.
- Identify and communicate discrepancies between field conditions and design documents.
- Assist in developing practical solutions for field and installation challenges.
Quality Assurance
- Perform reviews of shop drawings, production documents, and BIM models for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, industry standards, and applicable codes.
- Maintain organized project records and documentation.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Education
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology, Drafting, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
