Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer III to join our infrastructure team. This role is responsible for leading projects related to the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of corporate computing environments, including on-premises and cloud infrastructure, server environments, storage, applications, hardware, networking, and database-related architecture.
The Systems Engineer III will play a key role in supporting both operational needs and strategic infrastructure initiatives. This position is expected to spend approximately 40% of time on operational support and 60% on planned project work.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who can improve infrastructure reliability, security, efficiency, compliance, and scalability while supporting the organization’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead multiple infrastructure projects from planning through implementation.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade on-premises and cloud data center infrastructure.
- Support server environments, storage systems, applications, hardware, and related infrastructure technologies.
- Verify, implement, and govern enterprise best practices for availability, performance, and security.
- Lead and support security audit initiatives, including HITRUST, SOC 2, and related compliance efforts.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Work one weekend day per month, with corresponding time off.
- Train, mentor, and support junior engineers.
- Lead technical troubleshooting efforts for infrastructure, network, storage, and application issues.
- Facilitate interdepartmental meetings and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization.
- Research, evaluate, and perform proof-of-concept testing for new technologies.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with end users, vendors, managers, and internal teams.
- Support change management processes and ensure production changes are properly planned, communicated, and documented.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS and Azure.
- Data center experience, including rack and stack, cabling, hardware replacement, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Linux command line and Windows Server administration.
- Strong experience with Microsoft domain services, including:
- DNS
- Active Directory
- Group Policy
- WSUS
- Experience with load balancers.
- Experience with Fibre Channel SAN and NAS technologies.
- Proficiency with GitLab.
- Experience with SFTP technologies and processes.
- Automation experience using tools such as:
- PowerShell
- Ansible
- Terraform
- Jenkins
- Strong networking knowledge, including:
- OSI model
- TCP/IP
- VLANs
- LAN/WAN concepts
- Knowledge of data communications and telecommunications principles.
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of experience in an enterprise computing environment.
- NetApp NAS or ONTAP experience.
- Atlassian tool experience.
- CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code experience.
- SQL administration experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Deep knowledge of Windows and Linux system administration.
- Deep knowledge of VMware or Hyper-V administration.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, network, storage, and application environments.
- Understanding of monitoring, alerting, log aggregation, backups, replication, and disaster recovery best practices.
