Head Warehouse Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head Warehouse Manager to lead all warehouse operations for our growing distribution company. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the Shipping, Receiving, and Delivery departments while driving efficiency, accuracy, safety, and continuous process improvement throughout the warehouse.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing high-volume distribution centers, implementing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), optimizing bin location strategies, and developing scalable warehouse processes. This individual will be responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy, maximizing productivity, and building a high-performing warehouse leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Shipping Manager, Receiving Manager, and Delivery Manager.
• Develop warehouse strategies that improve productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Manage all warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, staging, delivery, and inventory control.
• Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to optimize workflows and improve operational performance.
• Design and maintain efficient warehouse layouts, slotting, and binning systems.
• Establish and monitor warehouse KPIs including:
• • Order accuracy
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Picking efficiency
  • Receiving turnaround time
  • On-time shipments
  • Delivery performance
  • Labor productivity
• Lead cycle count and physical inventory programs.
• Develop SOPs and standardized warehouse procedures.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
• Ensure OSHA compliance and maintain a safe working environment.
• Partner with Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, and Accounting to improve overall operational efficiency.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance evaluations for warehouse leadership.
• Create accountability through measurable goals and performance metrics.
• Analyze warehouse data and recommend operational improvements.
• Oversee warehouse equipment, maintenance, and facility organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of warehouse management experience within a distribution environment.
• 3+ years leading multiple warehouse departments or warehouse managers.
• Strong experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Experience implementing or improving warehouse processes and inventory control systems.
• Extensive knowledge of:

  • Warehouse slotting strategies
  • Cycle counting
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Receiving and shipping operations
  • Delivery logistics
• Strong understanding of lean warehouse practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proven ability to lead large teams through growth and operational change.
• Experience using ERP systems and warehouse reporting tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multi-warehouse operations.
• Experience implementing a new WMS or warehouse redesign.
• Knowledge of barcode scanning, RF devices, and warehouse automation.
• Experience in janitorial, industrial, safety, or wholesale distribution.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field is preferred but not required.
