Kinston Health is seeking a Community Health Worker (CHW) with a special focus on men's health, community outreach, and engagement.
This position will primarily engage underserved men throughout our community, including agricultural workers, manufacturing and industrial employees, tradespeople, veterans, and others who may be less likely to access traditional healthcare services.
You'll meet people where they are—at workplaces, community events, outreach programs, neighborhoods, and other community settings—to build the relationships and trust that open the door to better health.
As a Community Health Worker, you'll serve as a public health advocate, peer educator, and patient navigator, helping men understand their health, connect with primary and preventive care, overcome barriers to treatment, and access physical, behavioral, and mental healthcare services. You'll play a vital role in reducing health disparities and improving outcomes by bringing healthcare beyond the walls of the clinic and into the community.
We're looking for someone who is approachable, relatable, comfortable starting conversations, and passionate about helping others. You don't need a traditional healthcare background. Experience in community outreach, agriculture, manufacturing, public service, behavioral health, peer support, healthcare, coaching, ministry, or other people-centered roles may prepare you well for this position.
Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly encouraged to apply and receive additional compensation.
