Nurse Director – Medical Surgical Unit, Soldotna, Alaska
Our client, a respected healthcare organization in Alaska, is seeking an experienced Nurse Director to lead its Medical Surgical department. This leadership role is responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and participating in departmental activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
The Nurse Director will collaborate with Nursing Administration, hospital departments, community healthcare professionals, and the public to advance the organization's mission while providing principled leadership and operational excellence throughout the Med Surg unit.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and oversee daily operations of the Medical Surgical department.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered nursing care.
- Collaborate with Nursing Administration and hospital leadership to achieve organizational goals.
- Integrate Med Surg department activities with other hospital departments and community healthcare partners.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for nursing staff.
- Promote quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and patient safety.
- Utilize EPIC and Pyxis systems to support clinical operations and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience (Required)
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical Director experience (Required)
- Previous leadership experience in an acute care hospital setting strongly preferred
- Experience with EPIC and Pyxis (preferred)
Licensure & Certifications:
- Active Alaska RN License (Required)
- Current AHA BLS Certification
- Current AHA ACLS Certification
- PALS Certification required within 6 months of hire
