The Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering customer orders in a safe, accurate, and timely manner while providing exceptional customer service. In addition to delivery responsibilities, Delivery Drivers assist with various in-store operational tasks that support the cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of the store. This position requires safe driving practices, effective communication, and a commitment to maintaining the company's standards for customer service, food quality, and professionalism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Delivery Driver's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain a current and valid Food Handler Certificate as required by applicable state and local regulations.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license, current vehicle insurance, and a safe driving record in accordance with company requirements and applicable law.
- Deliver customer orders safely, accurately, and in a timely manner while ensuring food quality is maintained during transport.
- Provide courteous, professional, and efficient customer service during all customer interactions.
- Use approved insulated pizza delivery bags and vehicle car toppers for every delivery and return all company-issued equipment to the store at the conclusion of each shift.
- Handle cash, credit card receipts, and other forms of payment accurately and responsibly while following all company cash-handling procedures.
- Maintain regular communication with restaurant management throughout each shift, providing updates regarding delivery status, delays, return times, or any issues affecting deliveries.
- Answer incoming customer telephone calls and assist with order taking or customer inquiries as directed by management.
- Assist with folding pizza boxes and maintaining an adequate supply for store operations.
- Scrape, wash, and oil pizza pans in accordance with company cleaning and maintenance procedures.
- Perform cleaning, stocking, and organizational tasks throughout the store during periods when not actively making deliveries.
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of food preparation areas, dishwashing areas, storage areas, the lobby, restrooms, and other portions of the store as assigned.
- Follow all company policies, food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and health department regulations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent the store in a positive manner while operating a personal vehicle or company-approved delivery vehicle.
- Promptly report accidents, vehicle issues, customer concerns, or safety hazards to management.
- Perform other duties and miscellaneous tasks as assigned by management or ownership to support the successful operation of the restaurant.
Qualifications
- Current Food Handler Certificate or the ability to obtain one within the required timeframe.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Current automobile insurance meeting applicable legal and company requirements.
- Reliable personal vehicle available for deliveries, if required by the store.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently while maintaining communication with store staff.
- Ability to accurately handle cash and other forms of payment.
- Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to enter and exit a vehicle repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in varying weather and traffic conditions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment and perform repetitive tasks.
