Senior Facilities Maintenance Manager
Location: JFK Airport, Jamaica, NY
Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 per year

About the Role
Flying Food Group is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations at our JFK Airport facility. This leadership role is responsible for managing a team of maintenance professionals, ensuring reliable operation of critical equipment, maintaining facility infrastructure, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate has strong industrial maintenance experience, a deep understanding of electro-mechanical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and facility operations, and the ability to lead a high-performing maintenance team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
• Lead, manage, and develop a maintenance team of 5–10+ technicians
• Oversee repair and maintenance activities for facility equipment, production equipment, vehicles, tools, and systems
• Manage maintenance operations for building systems, grounds, utilities, and industrial equipment
• Develop and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance programs
• Utilize CMMS systems to track work orders, maintenance schedules, equipment history, and reliability metrics
• Inspect equipment and systems to ensure operational standards and safety compliance
• Troubleshoot and maintain industrial electro-mechanical systems, including motors, bearings, gearboxes, VFDs, controls, and automation systems
• Oversee HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
• Manage third-party service providers and contractors
• Lead capital improvement projects and equipment upgrades
• Maintain inventory control for parts, tools, and maintenance supplies
• Develop and monitor maintenance KPIs, reliability metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Drive process improvements utilizing Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
• Prepare and manage department budgets and monitor expenditures
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, USDA, SQF, GMP, and HACCP requirements
• Promote a strong safety culture, including LOTO procedures and root cause analysis practices
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Associate's degree with a minimum of 5 years of maintenance leadership experience or High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of relevant maintenance experience
• Proven experience managing industrial maintenance teams
• Strong HVAC experience required
• Deep knowledge and implementation experience with CMMS systems
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical and mechanical systems
• Experience troubleshooting motors, bearings, gearboxes, VFDs, controls, and automation equipment
• Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and reliability initiatives
• Experience with capital projects and inventory management
• Experience in food manufacturing, cold storage, logistics, warehouse, transportation, or industrial operations preferred
• Refrigeration system experience highly desirable
• Experience managing maintenance operations in a hotel, food production, or similar facility preferred
• Strong knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and best practices
• LOTO experience required
• Root Cause Analysis experience or certification preferred
• EPA 608 Certification highly desirable
• HVAC and hydraulic system certifications are a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
• Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Spanish bilingual skills are a plus
Additional Requirements
• Ability to pass US Customs and Port Authority background check and obtain required ID
• Valid and clean New York State driver's license required
• Must be flexible and available for occasional after-hours support and emergency maintenance needs
• Must be comfortable working extended hours when required (this is not a standard 9–5 role)
• Union experience is a plus
