Auto Detailer / Clean-Up Department Lead

About the Role
Tri City Automotive is seeking an experienced Auto Detailer to lead our clean-up department. This role is responsible for preparing new and pre-owned vehicles to showroom-ready condition, ensuring every vehicle that leaves our lot reflects the quality standards our customers expect.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full interior and exterior detailing on new, used, and service department vehicles (wash, wax, buff, vacuum, shampoo, tire/wheel cleaning, etc.)
• Prep new vehicle deliveries and used vehicle trade-ins for retail readiness
• Apply protective coatings, paint touch-up, and odor treatments as needed
• Inspect vehicles for defects, damage, or missing components and report findings to management
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe detail shop/work area
• Manage supply inventory (chemicals, materials, equipment) and flag reorder needs
• Coordinate with sales, service, and lot management to prioritize vehicle turnaround times
• Train and oversee additional detail staff as the department grows
• Follow all safety protocols for chemical handling and equipment use

Qualifications

• Prior auto detailing experience required; dealership experience preferred
• Working knowledge of detailing equipment, products, and techniques (buffers, extractors, ceramic/wax applications, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality of work
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet turnaround deadlines
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (must be able to move vehicles on-site)
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Leadership or supervisory experience a plus, as this role oversees the clean-up department

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, and work with hands for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
