Position Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring products meet company and customer quality standards by performing receiving, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections. This role conducts dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring equipment, verifies compliance, specifications, and customer requirements, accurately documents inspection results, and helps maintain the integrity of the quality management system by identifying, controlling, and documenting nonconforming materials.
Qualifications
- Basic math skills, including the ability to work with decimals and fractions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions, inspection procedures, engineering drawings, and customer requirements.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate inspection results and quality concerns.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday and lift up to 30 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Perform receiving, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections as assigned.
- Inspect parts in accordance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, inspection sheets, and work instructions.
- Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, pin gages, thread gages, indicators, and other inspection tools, to verify product conformance.
- Accurately record and maintain inspection results using both paper and electronic documentation.
- Verify the correct part number, drawing revision, material, and inspection documentation are being used prior to inspection.
- Identify products that do not meet specified requirements and immediately identify, segregate, and control suspected nonconforming material.
- Assist with product sorting, containment activities, and additional inspections when quality concerns arise.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety policies and quality procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, CNC machining, assembly, or quality control environment.
- Prior experience performing visual and dimensional inspections.
- Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, comparators, and vision systems.
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
- Familiarity with first article, in-process, final, and receiving inspection activities.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or a comparable quality management system.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, manufacturing software, or an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
