RPM Staffing is seeking School Custodians for the 2026-2027 school year!

The School Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in the school facility. This role plays a critical part in supporting the educational mission by ensuring the physical space is conducive to learning and activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the building and dispose of waste properly.
• Maintain restrooms by cleaning fixtures, replenishing supplies, and ensuring sanitary conditions.
• Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and activities.
• Monitor and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the facilities manager.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, fixing minor leaks, or adjusting fixtures.
• Assist with snow removal, grounds keeping, and outdoor maintenance as needed.
• Secure the building by locking doors and windows at the end of the day and responding to security concerns.
• Follow all health and safety protocols, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience required, ideally in an educational setting.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and scrubbers.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning products.
• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Background check and clearances as required by state and district regulations.

Working Conditions
The position involves significant physical activity, exposure to cleaning chemicals, and work in various weather conditions for outdoor tasks. Custodians may work split shifts or after school hours.
