SUMMARY:
- The 2026 - 2027 school year Special Education Paraprofessional pay rate to work on assignment with Capital Area Intermediate Unit is $24.00/hour
- 5 days of Paid Time Off (prorated based on hire date)
- The Special Education Paraprofessional will work on student days following the academic calendar year
CURRENT OPENING:
- Location: Hill Top Academy - 405 E Winding Hill Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055
- Schedule: 7:40am - 3:10pm (on full school day), paid through lunch break!
- Autistic Support classroom - must be comfortable with personal care support and behavior redirection
- Emotional Support Classroom
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students' academic, behavioral, social, and personal growth within the classroom and school environment. Responsibilities include:
- Provide instructional, behavioral, and/or physical support to individual students or small groups, including on-task prompting, social skills development, and self-care assistance.
- Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans by implementing accommodations and strategies as directed.
- Reinforce learning concepts, classroom instruction, and skill development to help students achieve their educational goals.
- Work one-on-one or in small groups to provide targeted academic and behavioral support.
- Assist students in developing organizational, communication, problem-solving, and independent living skills.
- Guide students through classroom activities, monitor participation and progress, and provide feedback to instructional staff.
- Promote positive student behavior and help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and school administrators to support student success.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival/dismissal, transitions, and other non-instructional school activities.
- Foster positive relationships with students while encouraging independence, confidence, and social-emotional growth.

Requirements
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma required. For Title I positions - Must pass for "highly qualified" as mandated by NCLB
- 2 years post secondary, Associate's Degree or higher - preferred
- Prior public-school experience and/or working with school-aged children in a licensed, certified, or registered provider setting - preferred
