Job Summary
Join our all-star retina team as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician, where you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care and patient service.
We are looking for full-time or part time employees.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information
- Perform ophthalmic examinations using diagnostic tools like tonometry, ultrasound, and ophthalmic imaging equipment
- Assist with performing intravitreal injections and ophthalmic lasers
- Operate medical equipment following aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and maintain clinical confidentiality policies
- Manage electronic health records (We use ModMed), documenting patient encounters accurately and efficiently
- Provide direct patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring a comfortable experience during visits
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office setting, preferably within ophthalmology or optometry clinics
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic diagnostics
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as ModMed or similar platforms for managing medical records
- Hands-on experience with ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment like tonometers and ophthalmic imaging equipment such as OCT
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Experience in retail sales or front desk operations is a plus for managing patient flow and appointment scheduling
- Ability to learn new tasks if unfamiliar with certain new skills
