• Regular hours: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Overtime hours, when required: 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Important Physical and Confined-Space Requirements

This is a physically demanding, hands-on manufacturing position that requires frequent confined-space entry.

Employees regularly enter the interior of tanks to perform grinding, sanding, cleaning, surface preparation, inspection, and testing-related work. Entry into these tanks is made through a round manway approximately 20 inches in diameter.

Position Summary

Isometrics, Inc. is hiring an Industrial Grinder / Metal Finisher & Tank Tester to join our Finishing & Testing Department at our manufacturing facility in Reidsville, North Carolina.

This position focuses primarily on grinding, sanding, cleaning, and preparing welded tanks and fabricated metal components for paint. Employees also perform or assist with air and hydrostatic pressure testing to verify the integrity of completed tanks and piping systems.

This is a metal-finishing and testing position, not a production welding position. A large portion of the workday may involve using grinders, sanders, and other power tools to prepare steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components for the painting process.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, mechanically inclined, comfortable performing physical work, and committed to producing clean, high-quality results.

What You Will Do Each Day

Daily responsibilities may include:

• Grind and sand welded steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components
• Prepare the interior and exterior surfaces of tanks and fabricated assemblies for paint
• Remove weld spatter, burrs, sharp edges, oxidation, scratches, and other surface imperfections
• Blend welded and fabricated areas to create a clean, consistent, paint-ready finish
• Enter tanks to grind, sand, clean, and inspect interior surfaces
• Clean completed tanks, piping, brackets, frames, and other fabricated components
• Inspect surfaces and identify areas requiring additional finishing or welding repair
• Perform or assist with air pressure and hydrostatic testing of tanks and piping systems
• Monitor tested components for leaks or other defects
• Identify and mark areas requiring repair
• Complete required testing and inspection documentation
• Set up and maintain testing equipment, hoses, pumps, gauges, fittings, grinders, sanders, and other tools
• Work closely with welders, inspectors, supervisors, and other production personnel
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all company procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements
