Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented QA Technician to join our manufacturing team in Stafford, TX. The QA Technician will be responsible for performing quality inspections, product testing, documentation, and ensuring products meet company and customer specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and effective communication with production, engineering, and management teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-process inspections, including dimensional verification and coating inspections.
- Inspect finished products to ensure conformance with drawings, work orders, specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct visual inspections of welded joints to identify defects such as cracks, cold welds, spatter, undercuts, and other weld imperfections.
- Assist with the inspection and release of incoming raw materials, supplied components, and finished products while ensuring compliance with drawings, purchase orders, work orders, Material Test Reports (MTRs), and applicable specifications.
- Perform product testing as required and accurately document and photograph inspection results.
- Maintain inspection records and quality documentation.
- Assist with calibration of inspection instruments and measuring equipment while maintaining calibration records.
- Support Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR) by completing and submitting required documentation.
- Review Material Test Reports (MTRs) as needed.
- Assist in maintaining and improving quality inspection programs and procedures.
- Support training efforts for production employees on quality standards and inspection requirements.
- Conduct product and process audits and prepare audit findings and reports.
- Communicate quality concerns and inspection findings with supervisors, engineering, operations, and quality personnel.
- Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or steel fabrication environment preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based computer applications.
- Working knowledge of arc welding processes for carbon, stainless steel, and alloy metals preferred.
- Familiarity with liquid and powder coating processes preferred.
- Knowledge of ASTM specifications, AWWA standards, and AWS/ASME welding codes is a plus.
- Ability to perform quality testing, including dye penetrant, magnetic particle, dry film thickness, and other required testing methods.
- Strong understanding of shop math, including converting fractions to decimals.
- Ability to accurately read tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
